Hello

Can anybody tell me location of immo box in Avensis 1998 models ? (left hand steering)
According to my data should be under steering wheel but not in this car

Hope anybody can help

Thanks

Pierre

Hi Pierre,

Yes, Vladko means the engine ECU. If you can not find immo box, then the immo/key data is stored in a memory inside ECU, usually 93C56 (and usually IC601 or IC900)

Good luck

Ok will need to give a look

Thing is Eingne is blocked by immo after use of diagnostic tool.
Belive keys could be lost and perhaps also synk between immo and engine ECU.
Does anybody know if possible to reset Immo/Engine ECU to virgin/factory state or so ?
Any recourse would be very helpful.

Hi Pierre,

You'll need to provide more info about the car, for anyone to be able to help you.
It might be possible to virginize the ECU, you'll need to post the ECU details,( eg - Denso - 89661-05460.)
If not sure about immo box location/existents, the easiest way is to follow the wires coming out of the ignition coil (antenna).
If there is no immo box, then syncronization is not needed, as keys are matched directly to the ECU.
Hope this helps.

Cheers

Think you are very helpfull ;-)
I have been looking for the wires at the coil, they go in a big bunch of wires and are very hard to follow for that reason.
But immo os not behind steering wheel as it should be.
Hovever I will need to get car back here and get back with info.

Ok found solution for this problem it was not lost/missing keys.
It was problem with synch between Immo and Engine ECU (toyota know this problem but do not really tell about it ;) )
Ic can happen if ignition is on for longer than 30min
Solution is quite simple short pin 4+13 in obd connector and keep ignition on for more than 30min this will make synch between ECU ok again and car starts.

Will bye toyota keymaker later when needed

Rgds
